Thumbs
down on public drunkenness

Our streets and parks are being taken over by drunken youths and
sometimes adults who not only disturb the sleep of residents but smash
bottles, private and community property as they wend their
"merry" and destructive way between the town's drinking
establishments at all hours of the night.
The
Council has been traditionally reluctant to ban drinking in public places
during certain hours but has gone a few steps in this direction.
We
require more Police and we need our Council to go further than they have
to date.
Make sure you continue to remind Councillors with your phone calls,
letters, emails and ballot box votes. We need stronger regulations
governing all problem areas. And we need Council and Police to get
serious about policing all existing laws and regulations pertaining to
public consumption of alcohol and public inebriation.
